Ralph Lauren Classic Car Collection Exhibition in Paris
May 6th
Ralph Lauren reveals his classic car collection in Europe for the very first time and is transporting his most exquisite car collection to the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris for a special exhibit called “The Art of the Automobile: Masterpieces from the Ralph Lauren Collection”.
The exhibition opens from the 28th of April, where a selection of Ralph Lauren’s most prestigious sports cars from the 1930s to the present day is on show for the first time in Europe at Paris’ Musée des Arts Décoratifs. 17 outstanding cars, chosen by the curator Rodolphe Rapetti, outline the main phases of European automobile history.
Stylish not only in clothing but also in automobiles, world renowned designer Ralph Lauren has established himself as one of the world’s major car collectors. His impressive collection includes a 1938 Bugatti, a 1958 Ferrari Testa Rossa and a 2010 Lamborghini Murcielago; making Ralph Lauren’s range of cars ‘a museum of automotive history, an archive of performance machines that represent the finest achievements in motorsport’.
With this collection, Ralph Lauren shows that the automobile is a major art form created by the industry’s biggest names: Bugatti, Alfa Romeo, Bentley, Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar, Porsche and of course, Ferrari, the high point of this unique collection.
The exhibition will be the first time his collection will be shown in Europe; and with the distance the cars were required to travel, the transportation and instillation of cars was planned and carefully executed to maintain high standards of care.

Patrick Nagel – The Art of Fantasy Realism.
Jan 22nd
The feeling of Patrick Nagel’s work is reminiscent of Japanese woodblock prints as well as of Art Deco styling, yet it is completely contemporary and universal in appeal. Starting from a photograph, he would create a simplified drawing, then translate the drawing to a painting — always “simplifying, working to get more across with fewer elements,” notes Elena Millie. Bold, dark lines shape perspective out of flat, cool colours and stark white spaces; the result is what some have described as “fantasy realism.”

Thierry Thompson – Automotive Artist
Sep 9th
Thierry first caught my attention some years ago, in the pages of a fairly new publication at that time called, “Automobile Magazine”. There was a brief article on the artist and his poignant image of Gilles titled ” Last Run “. The picture immediately struck an emotional cord as it show Gilles climbing out of the cockpit of the Ferrari 126C for the last time on that fateful day in Belgium, prior to his last qualifying appearance on May 8, 1982. The red number 27 is symbolically parked with one wheel over the yellow pit line – a metaphor of his relentless drive to win at all cost, often crossing the line.
Gilles is Thierry’s all time favorite subject to paint. If you are familiar with Thierry’s works, you know that his amazing renditions of the cars he paints are usually the ” hero “. The exception being, the images he creates of Gilles and the Ferraris he piloted. Gilles unbridled passion and enthusiasm for driving (Thierry was fortunate to have known Gilles personally) made him the focal point of these particular paintings; the ” hero “. He captures the intensity and passion so perfectly you experience the perspective his compositions capture of the late Ferrari driver.
Each one of his creations is printed on the highest quality acid free paper using the finest hand mixed inks. Although, these seem like photographs, they are actually airbrushed paintings. Only Thierry Thompson brings his work to life with special fluorescent colors.
All of Thierry’s limited editions sell out, so if your are fortunate to come across one, buy it!
Thierry’s body of work ranges from more than his work on Gilles. Be sure to visit his online galleries:
